Issue Date: May 2024

This unit applies to activities associated with:

researching and evaluating new processes and products within the medical grade footwear sector

monitoring patient and condition trends that may require reporting and further research

Significant judgement is required in planning, design, technical or supervisory activities related to products and processes. Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team activities.

This unit is applied according to OHS and workplace practices of the enterprise, which may include:

requirements prescribed by legislation, awards, agreements and conditions of employment

standard operating procedures

This unit requires the application of skills associated with communication to consult with relevant personnel across a range of issues, undertake and document research on global trends and practices affecting medical grade footwear, analyse information and prepare and present data and information to relevant health professionals at seminars and conferences.

Planning and organising, problem solving and initiative and enterprise are applied in research and required to define manufacturing capabilities and develop strategy plan and critical path plan. Teamwork skills are also used to contribute to strategic planning and share research findings with others. Learning is applied throughout the unit in research processes. Technology is applied through this unit when using computers for research purposes.

This unit covers the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively research and evaluate new processes and products within the medical grade footwear sector.

You may want to include more information here about the target group and the purpose of the assessments (eg formative, summative, recognition)
